We Care AA started out as an alumni group from We Care Counseling in 1991. Today the group includes more non-alumni than We Care Counseling alumni - people who have simply found a comfortable home at We Care AA meetings. We welcome alumni of any treatment program, and especially welcome anyone wishing to achieve sobriety the old fashioned way: Don’t drink, go to meetings, get a sponsor, and read the “Big Book”. Weekly attendance is typically an intimate 10-20 fun and friendly people.
We Care AA shares an active event calendar with Friends In Recovery. The late Duane Bertelsen founded We Care Counseling in 1991. Prior to that, Duane had been director of the CD treatment program at St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was involved in Friends In Recovery.
Friends In Recovery grew out of being an alumni group at St. Joseph’s, and at St. John’s Hospital before that. The association between the two AA groups that grew out of two different alumni groups remains strong today. For more information about Friends In Recovery, visit www.friendsinrecovery.org.
We Care AA Founders’ Motto:
